How SourceAnywhere for VSS works
- SourceAnywhere for VSS is a client/server
application. It consists of a Server,
Cache Server (optional) and several
types of Clients. They communicate over
any standard TCP/IP connection.
- SourceAnywhere
for VSS server needs to be installed
in the same LAN or on the same
machine as the VSS database machine. VSS API (included
in VSS client) is used by
SourceAnywhere for VSS server
to access VSS database.
- SourceAnywhere for
VSS client consists of Windows client,
cross-platform client, SDK client,
command line tool, Visual Studio
6/2003/2005/2008 and Dreamweaver integration
client and Eclipse plug-in.
- SourceAnywhere
for VSS clients send commands to
SourceAnywhere for VSS server and SourceAnywhere
for VSS server in turn calls VSS API to carry
out operations.
- The optional SourceAnywhere
for VSS cache server can be installed
at client side to further improve
remote access performance.
