Fields Management

Issue forms use fields to display data, or allow users to input data or select options. You can control the appearance and behavior of fields on issue forms by configure those fields in the issue type.

This page allows you to configure fields in the issue type. In addition to the default system and common fields, you can also select custom fields for the issue type. You can set default value or value options for the fields and set the fields to follow rules.

Access Rights

You must have Manage Project (Project Templates Management) permission.

To Manage Fields

1. Click Projects (Project Templates) Management in System Admin page, and the Project (Project Template) List page appears.

2. Select the project (project template) that you wish to manage, click in Manage column of Project (Project Template) List page, and the Project (Project Template) Management page appears.

3. Click Issue Types Management in Project (Project Template) Management page, and the Issue Type List page appears.

4. Select the issue type that you want to manage, click in Manage column of Issue Type List page, and the Issue Type Management page appears.

5. Click Fields Management in Issue Type Management page, and the Fields Management page appears, as seen in the following figure:

6. Add or delete fields, set rules for fields.

Window Items:

Add

Add a field to the issue type. The dropdown list contains the rest fields in the system.

Name

Name of the fields used in the issue type.

For example: Issue type, Priority, Assigned To.

Description

Description of the field.

Data Type

The data type of the field.

For example: User, Integer, String.

Field Type

The field type of the field.

For example: System Field, Common Field, Custom Field.

Type

Type of the field.

Field Rules Configure

Set rules for the fields in the issue type. See Configure Field Rules.

Delete

Delete the field from the issue type.

Note:

The system fields and common fields will be added to the issue type by default.
If you want to add a custom field which is not in the Add dropdown list to the Fields Management, you can add the custom field first by clicking Fields on the System Admin page menu bar.
The system fields can not be removed, but you can remove the common fields and custom fields on this page.
If the field is used by Transition, Form or Notification in the issue type, you can not remove it.
You can remove the field which is used by queries or reports.
If you remove a field from the issue type, it will appear in Add dropdown list automatically and vice versa.
The following fields can not be set rules for: ID, Project, Issue Type, Rev, Changed By, Changed Date, Commented Date, Commented By, Attached File Count, Created By, Create Date and State.
