Compare Files/Projects

In Dynamsoft SAW Standalone, you can compare two files or projects and show the difference if any.  You can use a diff utility to compare two files. The default diff utility in Dynamsoft SAW Standalone is MergeHero. Dynamsoft SAW Standalone may also be configured with an external application for visual diff on files . This setting is in Tools->Options->External Programs tab.

When you compare two files,

• For mergeable files, Dynamsoft SAW Standalone visually displays the individual line differences between the two files.
   
• For binary files, Dynamsoft SAW Standalone only identifies the differences.

When you compare two projects, Dynamsoft SAW Standalone displays the project-level  differences  (for example, lists which items exist in one project only) between the two projects.

In Dynamsoft SAW Standalone, you can compare files or projects in several ways:

• Using Show Differences command to compare the local copy of an item to any version of itself in repository, etc.
   
• Using Show Differences command to compare two files in the same project.
   
• Using Diff command in History Explorer dialog box to compare a specific history version of an item to a previous version in repository , etc.
   
• Using Diff command in Show Labels dialog box to compare a labeled version of an item to the current version in repository, etc.
