SAW for VSS allows the names of files and projects to be changed without affecting the history of the file.

How to rename a file or project

1. Select the name to be edited.

2. Choose the Rename command from either the File menu or by right-clicking.

3. Type the new name of the file or project in the New Name field of the Rename dialog box and then press OK.

If a shared file is renamed, the name of the file will be changed in all of the projects that share it. Rename will not affect any files that have been branched.
