Self Trouble Shooting
Server
- Read the server log. The log can be showed by clicking View
Log in Server Manager.
- Make sure the TCP/IP is installed on the machine and is set properly.
- If firewall is installed, make sure the server is accessible from network.
- Make sure the Server service is running.
- If the service can't be started, make sure the service has the right Log On
username and password,
which can be configured in the Service Property dialog box.
- Make sure the Microsoft Visual SourceSafe Client APIs are installed on the
machine.
- Make sure the service Log On user has access to the VSS database.
- Be sure to change settings in service option when the service Log On user password changed.
- Make sure the latest service pack of VSS is installed. The service pack can be downloaded from
www.microsoft.com.
Client
- Make sure the TCP/IP protocol is installed on the machine and is set
properly.
- If firewall is installed, make sure it is set properly.
- If you are using proxy, set the proxy settings in Options dialog box
properly.
- If you connect to an encrypted port of SourceAnyWhere server, please make
sure the key file is imported.
- If you are using a non-Microsoft IDE, make sure the MSSCCI is supported by
the IDE you are using.
- No VSS Client API is needed on client machine.
