Dynamsoft's Webcam Image Capture SDK for Document Management Goes Standalone

The Dynamsoft Webcam SDK v5.0 Becomes a Standalone Product and Now Supports More Browsers and New In-Browser Video Stream Capabilities for Robust Webcam Capture Options

VANCOUVER – November 22, 2016

Dynamsoft's Webcam SDK is now available as a standalone product for software developers to quickly embed webcam video streams as an extra option for browser-based image captures in their document management applications. The new standalone SDK also improves browser support and adds an in-browser video feed to simplify user image captures.

As a standalone product, software developers can turn to Dynamsoft's webcam capture SDK without requiring the use of any other SDK component. Also new in this version is an added video viewer whereby developers can embed a video stream in a browser. This video stream can then integrate into an organization's browser-based document management application to more conveniently capture images from webcams right in a browser. Browser support was also improved by changing the communication protocol between the JavaScript client and Windows Service from HTML5 to HTTP. This allows support for more browsers, such as older versions of Internet Explorer.

Dynamsoft Webcam SDK provides programmers with a browser-based webcam library and JavaScript APIs. With it, programmers can easily embed the ability to do image capturing from USB Video Class (UVC) compatible webcam video streams. An application can be made to feed a live video stream into a container in a browser and then allow a user to conveniently grab a snapshot from the feed. This is all possible using just a couple lines of code in a web application.

The webcam SDK works with all common browsers on Windows too: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Internet Explorer (v6 and above), Opera, etc. It allows developers complete control over a webcam's settings, such as exposure, iris, auto focus, and more. Post-capture processing is also possible. Users can do essential image edits, such as crop, rotate, and more, and then save or upload it to a web server. The SDK is ideal for document management application managers to quickly integrate an option for webcam-based document captures.
