Purchasing FAQs

  • 1. Is internet connectivity required to use a license?

    No.

    Generally, you need to use a license server program to distribute your purchased license seats to specified devices.

    • Option #1: Connect to a license server hosted by Dynamsoft
      Dynamsoft has the license server hosted on Amazon’s AWS. If your device can connect to the internet, you can easily license your devices this way. More Detail >
    • Option #2: Host the license server program on your own server machine
      By hosting the license server internally, all your devices can get licensed via your intranet. This is suggested if you don’t allow internet connection of your devices. More Detail >
    • More option:
      If neither option is desired, we can also provide a non-tracking offline license with a trust-based agreement signed by both parties. Please contact us to discuss it.
  • 2. Can my device work completely offline after it is licensed?

    Yes.

    By default, device connection to the license server program is only required once per week. If you require a longer-term offline use, you can contact us for a custom license.

  • 3. What if I reach the limit of the granted number of license seats?

    No worries. Dynamsoft still offers a free additional 5% (for per-barcode-scan option) or 10% (for per-client-device or per-browser-client option) of license seats for your emergency use.

    Please note that before you reach the limit, you would receive a series of notification emails when you have used 75%, 90%, 95% or 100% of the license seats. To add more seats to your existing license, please contact your account manager.

  • 4. Do you offer lifetime/perpetual licenses?

    Yes.

    If you would like lifetime licensing options (instead of the default Annual licensing), please contact us for a quotation.

  • 5. Do I need to purchase a license for my dev or testing environment?

    For evaluation, you can use the 30-day free trial SDK provided by Dynamsoft.

    For temporary development and testing, you can contact support@dynamsoft.com or log into the customer portal to get a 15-day (max. 30 days) temporary license.

    For ongoing development and testing, you can purchase a license from the online store to cover your usage. If you expect to consume a large volume usage during your dev or testing, please contact us for a discount.

  • 6. I need to integrate your SDK into my commercial product which will be used by different customers (companies). Can I directly purchase a license from the online store?

    Yes.

    In this case, one license quota can be shared by different customers of yours. For example, you can let three different customers share your 100,000-barcode-scan license as long as the total usage doesn’t exceed the quota limit.

  • 7. Do you have other licensing options available?

    Yes. We understand our standard options may not cover your need, so we are very flexible with different licensing metrics to best serve your business. Please directly contact us.

  • 8. Can I purchase through a local reseller? 

    Yes. To see if there is an authorized local reseller, please go to this page. If you can’t find an appropriate one from the list, you can contact your preferred local reseller and have them email reseller@dynamsoft.com for quick registration. The registration process takes 1 - 3 business days. Or, contact us so we can work it out.

  • 9. What is your discount policy?  

    Education and non-profit discounts are available. Please send your info to sales@dynamsoft.com to see if you are qualified.

    Discounts are also available for large quantity purchases or licenses for non-production use. Please  contact us.

  • 10. What’s your refund policy?
    • All purchases are governed by our 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee policy.
    • If you are not completely satisfied, you may request a full refund by sending an e-mail to sales@dynamsoft.com within 30 days of purchasing a license.
