How to run Dynamsoft Document Imaging Plugins in Firefox 30 or Later
Mozilla has announced the release of Firefox 30 on June 10. Since this version, Firefox will deactivate plugins, with the exception of those bundled inside an extension or ones that are whitelisted, by default. To use Dynamsoft’s document imaging NPAPI Plugins (Dynamic Web TWAIN/ImageCapture Suite) in Firefox 30, please follow the steps below. We will use Dynamic Web TWAIN online demo as an example here.
- Firstly, if you don’t have Dynamic Web TWAIN Plugin on your machine, please click the Download button and follow the installation steps to install it.
- After you install the plugin, the demo scan page will look like:
- Please click “Activate Dynamic Web TWAIN Trial” and you will see the below prompt. Choose Allow and Remember so that you can always run the Dynamic Web TWAIN plugin on the current website.
- Then Dynamic Web TWAIN will be enabled in the web page and you can connect to your scanner and try scanning in Firefox.
If you are an existing customer of Dynamsoft, you may need to update the current code of your application for better user experience (detect & show the “Activate Dynamic Web TWAIN” screen as step #2) for Firefox v30 users. Please check this KB article for more details. Meanwhile, we have recently released the preview version of Dynamic Web TWAIN for Chrome, which uses HTML5 WebSocket for post-NPAPI Chrome. It will be extended Firefox and other HTML5-compatible browsers in the near future. Stay tuned.
