Building WPF-Based Image Capture .NET Apps Using TWAIN

Adrian Bridgwater wrote an article on Dynamic .NET TWAIN 5.0 which comes with WPF control. Start reading it below.

Dynamsoft encourages the creation of .NET applications that use a WPF interface
Dynamsoft has updated its Dynamic .NET TWAIN SDK to version 5.0 with built-in support for Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) version WPF 4.5 and earlier. The intention is to give programmers options to build WPF-based applications for image capturing from TWAIN scanners, webcams, and other devices.

In terms of its pedigree, Dynamsoft is probably best described as a developer of a browser-based image capture SDK, .NET document imaging components, plus version control software solutions.

As Dr. Dobb’s readers know, WPF is a Microsoft graphical subsystem for rendering user interfaces in Windows-based applications. So this native support for WPF is intended to encourage the creation of .NET applications that use a WPF interface.

Dynamsoft boldly claims that these features “practically eliminate” worries related to ensuring device compatibility in WinForm, WPF, or other .NET applications.

Extension features include image editing and uploading capabilities to allow post-capture processing. Captured images can be saved to a local disk, web server, or database. Save formats include BMP, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, multi-page TIFF, PDF, and multi-page PDF formats.

“Dynamsoft remains committed to simplifying the development path in generating advanced image capture applications, whether desktop or browser-based,” said Amy Gu, Vice President of Dynamsoft. “Dynamic .NET TWAIN is based on Microsoft’s .NET framework and the TWAIN library is optimized for use in C# and Visual Basic .NET. Customizable scanning configurations include ADF, duplex, resolution, pixel type, and more. Multiple award-winning technical support channels are provided for the SDK, including email, live chat, forum, and phone.”
