Dynamsoft's scanner reads VINs from barcodes (Code 39, Code 128, QR Code, Data Matrix); the stamped or engraved VIN characters themselves cannot be recognized with OCR. Feed the downloaded PNG to the online VIN barcode scanner to test the round trip.

17 characters. The letters I, O and Q never appear in a VIN, and position 9 holds the North American check digit — it is recalculated as you type. The barcode renders on every keystroke; there is nothing to submit.
