FAQ

1. What platforms does Dynamsoft Capture Vision support?

Dynamsoft Capture Vision supports Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, iOS, and browser-based JavaScript environments via WebAssembly. Cross-platform frameworks including React Native and .NET MAUI are also supported. Language bindings are available for JavaScript, Python, C++, C# (.NET), Java, Swift, and Kotlin.

2. How is Dynamsoft Capture Vision different from using separate SDKs?

Dynamsoft Capture Vision replaces multiple separate SDKs with a single unified integration. All five modules — Barcode Reader, Document Normalizer, Label Recognizer, Camera Enhancer, and Code Parser — share a common camera pipeline, a unified JSON-based configuration system, and a single license. This eliminates the overhead of wiring multiple vendor SDKs together, reduces maintenance burden, and ensures consistent performance across barcode, document, and ID capture in the same application.

3. Can I use DCV modules independently without the full platform?

Yes. Each DCV module — Barcode Reader, Document Normalizer, Label Recognizer, Camera Enhancer, and Code Parser — can be licensed and used independently. You only integrate and pay for the modules your workflow requires. Modules can also be combined at any time as your application needs grow.

4. Does DCV process on-device or does it require a cloud connection?

All Dynamsoft Capture Vision processing is fully on-device. No image or scan data is transmitted to Dynamsoft servers at any point. This makes DCV suitable for offline deployments, air-gapped environments, and applications with strict data privacy requirements such as healthcare, government, and financial services.

5. Can DCV be deployed on edge devices or embedded systems?

Yes. DCV supports Linux on ARM architecture, enabling deployment on edge devices such as Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, and industrial embedded systems. Because all processing runs on-device with no cloud dependency, DCV is well suited for real-time edge computing scenarios including manufacturing inspection, logistics scanning, and kiosk-based identity verification.

6. How is DCV licensed — per device, per deployment, or per scan?

DCV uses a per-developer-seat model for development licenses. Runtime and deployment licenses are separate and are not usage-based — there is no per-scan or per-request pricing for on-premise deployments. A 30-day free trial is available with no credit card required. Contact Dynamsoft for volume pricing on enterprise or OEM deployments.

7. Can I use a single DCV license across mobile and web versions of my app?

Platform licenses are separate. A JavaScript (web) license and a mobile (Android or iOS) license are distinct SKUs. Both can be managed under the same Dynamsoft account and purchased together. If your application targets multiple platforms, contact the Dynamsoft sales team to discuss bundle pricing options.

8. Is DCV compliant with HIPAA, GDPR, or other data regulations?

DCV is architecturally compatible with HIPAA, GDPR, and similar data privacy regulations because all processing is fully on-device and no data is transmitted to external servers. Compliance responsibility for overall data handling rests with your application. Dynamsoft provides a Security White Paper detailing the SDK data handling practices to support your compliance review.
