Dynamsoft Adds Linux Edition for its Web Document Scanning SDK
The Dynamic Web TWAIN Version 12.1 SDK Now Supports Document Scanning from Linux Machines
VANCOUVER – November 1, 2016
Dynamsoft's latest Dynamic Web TWAIN document scanning software development kit (SDK) version 12.1 has added a Linux Edition to support web-based SANE scanning on Linux machines. As a result, the document scanning SDK now supports cross-browser scanning across the three biggest platforms of Windows, macOS and Linux while also supporting all common scanners.
In the new version, Dynamic Web TWAIN adds the JavaScript SANE API to empower developers to create web-based document scanning applications for Linux users. Users can do online document scans via Chrome or Firefox, from Ubuntu 10-16, CentOS 7, Debian 8, or Fedora 19-24.
"With support for the Linux community added, our Dynamic Web TWAIN SDK is now essentially unlimited in platform reach," said Amy Gu, Vice President of Dynamsoft. "Our web-based document scanning and imaging SDKs now let developers truly ensure robust document scanning solutions that support users pretty much regardless of their choice in operating systems, browsers or scanning devices."
Dynamsoft's Dynamic Web TWAIN Windows Edition supports TWAIN scanning from IE, Edge, Chrome and Firefox on Windows. The Mac Edition supports TWAIN and ICA scanning from Safari, Chrome and Firefox on macOS. Now, with the addition of the Linux edition, Dynamic Web TWAIN supports all common browsers used in all popular desktop OS environments. This helps developers create cross-platform, cross-browser web scan solutions so users can more efficiently digitize and manage their documents.
About Dynamic Web TWAIN Dynamic Web TWAIN provides developers with tools to create immediate cross-browser cross-platform document scanning support. Users can scan documents from TWAIN and SANE-compatible scanners using a variety of browsers - Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Internet Explorer (IE), Safari, and others - across Windows, macOS or Linux operating systems. Images can be saved in various file formats – JPEG, TIFF, PDF, and more – or transferred and stored across varying protocols, local or remote file systems, database and document repositories.
Dynamsoft also offers imaging add-on modules that cover barcode reading, webcam image capture, PDF rasterizing, and optical character recognition (OCR).
Dynamic Web TWAIN provides programmers with simple built-in interfaces to access local imaging devices from web pages. They need only write a handful of lines of JavaScript code to enable cross-browser document scanning, uploading, and processing. It saves on costs by eliminating months of work coding from scratch for scanning, and image capture functions. Development teams also realize long-term time and cost savings with better application robustness and faster time to market.
