SourceAnywhere Standalone is SQL server-based revision control system designed for both local and distributed teams. It comes with fast speed, enhanced security, cross-platform support, and robust scalability & reliability.
The version control system is designed with programmers working in IDEs in mind, especially those who use Visual Studio, Eclipse and Dreamweaver.
SourceAnywhere Standalone provides seamless integration with Visual Studio, Eclipse, Dreamweaver, and other IDEs. Without leaving the IDE, you can efficiently source control your code. Many technologies including Add-in are adopted to further boost the performance of Visual Studio Plug-in.
In addition, if you are using another version control tool at the same time, SourceAnywhere Standalone provides a way for you to toggle among multiple Source Code Control (SCC) providers.
SourceAnywhere Standalone is optimized for both local and remote access. Our team invested into different ways, including unique caching mechanism, Delta Transfer, Compression, etc., in order to help users experience better performance.
Cache Server, an optional caching system, is a favorite component among customers with distributed teams. By caching copies of requested server files, it greatly reduces the workload of the server and thereby improves the client responsiveness. When you have more than one developer working on the same project at the same remote location, Cache Server can greatly reduce the inter-communication frequency between Client and Server over the internet.
Usually Cache Server is deployed at the same local network where the remote team is located, as illustrated in the following figure. For instance, if you have teams in different countries (USA, India, etc.) with the Server installed in USA, you can set up Cache Server in India and your teams will be able to work together like in the same office and enjoy the fast performance.
The source control tool uses SSL and Blowfish encryption to protect source code in transit.
VSS import tool is provided to ensure straightforward and easy data migration from SourceSafe, while the familiar UI greatly reduces your learning curve. Why is SourceAnywhere Standalone the best option if switching away from VSS (pdf)
You are allowed to install the software on both 32-bit and 64-bit OS. In addition, SourceAnywhere supports Windows 2000/2003/2008/XP/Vista/7, Mac, Linux, and other Java based OS. Built in C++ and Java, the version control system has little pre-requisite.
