General Questions

  1. What is ImageCapture Suite?

    ImageCapture Suite has ActiveX, Plug-in and Mac Editions.

    ActiveX edition is compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer and all COM-compatible environments, such as MS Office, VB and VC.

    Plug-in edition is compatible with Gecko-based browsers, such as Netscape, Firefox and Mozilla on Windows.

    Mac edition is compatible with all browsers on Mac OS X.

    ImageCapture Suite enables you to acquire images from any TWAIN compatible devices. Also, it can capture a live video stream into a container and grab a snapshot to be exported to a file/binary. Basically speaking, ImageCapture Suite almost combines all features of Dynamic Web TWAIN and Dynamic Webcam SDK. For more info, please refer to Product Comparison.

    ImageCapture Suite has many features specifically designed for web environment, such as uploading and downloading images through FTP or HTTP protocol.

  2. What type of operation system does ImageCapture Suite support?

    ImageCapture Suite supports both Windows and Mac platforms.

  3. Does the use of the ImageCapture Suite require installation of any drivers?

    Yes. ImageCapture Suite communicates with TWAIN/WIA/UVC driver of a device (scanner/camera/capture card/etc.) to control it to acquire and transfer images, so the driver needs to be installed on client machines.

  4. Who do I contact if I need technical support?

  6. What are the differences among ActiveX, Plug-in and Mac Edition?

    ActiveX Edition works as an ActiveX control in IE (32-bit and 64-bit) on Windows; Plug-in Edition works with Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, and etc on Windows; Mac Edition works with all browsers on Mac OS X. If you are not sure which browser your end user will use, we recommend you choose ActiveX + Plug-in + Mac editions to support all browsers on Windows and Mac OS X.

  7. How can enable my application supports all browsers on Windows?

Distribution Questions:

  1. What files are required for deploying my application regarding image acquisition part?

    Only ImageCaptureSuite.dll and ImageCaptureSuite.msi can be distributable with end user application. All other files and documentations can NOT be distributed.

    You must NOT distribute the ImageCaptureSuitePlugIn.lic and ImageCaptureSuiteActiveX.lic file under any circumstances.

  2. How to deploy ImageCapture Suite on Web server?

  3. Can I deploy ImageCapture Suite on Linux? If yes, how to?

    Yes, ImageCapture Suite can be deployed on Linux.

    1. Install the ImageCapture Suite on Windows.
    2. Place the CAB file and the LPK file into the directory of Web server on Linux.

License Questions

  1. How many licenses do I need for a web-based application that runs on one internet server but can be accessed by many clients?

    Only one Web Server License is required. Please refer to the License Agreement for more info.

  2. Do I need a Developer License to do the development if I have Web Server License?

    It is recommended to purchase a development server license for development. However, before the production server go live, you can develop and deploy your web application with the Web Server License.

  3. What can I do when the Trial version is out of period expiration?

    You can send a mail to our support team and ask for extending the period. We will be more than happy to extend the license for you.

  4. Cloud-Based license for ImageCapture Suite.

    Here are the details for the cloud-based license for ImageCapture Suite:

    1. Price: Please find the pricing in the following table. The price includes the licensing cost and the yearly subscription, which is 25% of the licensing fee.
    2. Subscription benefits:  premier support, free major upgrade and coding service.
    3. Period of validity: The license is valid for one year. You can renew the license in a yearly basis.
    4. Server: Each of the instances on the cloud requires a license.
