If a user downloads and installs an ActiveX control/Plugin on their computer, possibly the control/plugin can do anything to the computer. Dynamic Web TWAIN is a safe component over the web.

The ActiveX control is
- Digitally signed by VeriSign
  When a user installs (in most times, as admin) an ActiveX control/Plugin on his computer, the control/plugin gains full access to all resources of the computer. If an unsigned control is infected by a virus or maliciously changed by hackers, huge damages can be done before the user notices it.
- Marked safe for initializing and scripting
  With Dynamic Web TWAIN being marked safe, if the control intentionally damages the end users’ system, Dynamsoft assumes legal responsibility. Furthermore, if a control is not marked as safe for scripting or is not digitally signed, the default setting of popular browsers--like Internet Explorer and Firefox—will simply prevent the control from downloading or initializing.
